But this Panamera is anything but normal.
First off, this is a 2016 Porsche Panamera Turbo S, which means it’s a 570 horsepower, bonkers-fast luxury missile from the get-go. But this isn’t even a normal Panamera Turbo S. It’s a Panamera Turbo S “Exclusive Manufacture”, which means it’s a more or less bespoke version of the already more-exclusive-than-normal Panamera Turbo S Executive, a long-wheelbase luxury version of the Turbo S. It’s 1 of 100 made, and the price for this extra elite version of the already elite long-wheelbase version of the already elite fastest version of a reasonably elite sedan is...and I hope you’re not one for sticker shock...
$275,000.
That makes this the second most expensive new Porsche you can buy, trailing only the million-dollar 918 Spyder for price. It may be ugly, but you could certainly find a worse daily driver for a quarter of a million dollars. Although the rims may be the single biggest curbrash magnets I’ve ever seen. The rim sticks out past the tire, and the spokes, which don’t connect to the edge of the rims, stick out even further than that. I give them 4 months ‘till they’re ruined.

A long wheel base Panamera is such an odd idea. I mean the Panamera is already a long wheel base 928.

God that looks stupid.

If I had the means, I'd buy those beans.

I never understood the hate. That is great color on a gorgeous car.

Those wheels are about $2k a piece, possibly more. I can't remember which model they are.

Fuuuuuuuck no

And it does look like a bean.

The chrome window trim’s gotta go, but the rest of it? I'm ok with that.

At that price I’d buy a Tesla.

I will grant that it’s nowhere near as bad as people say it is. I have seen individual vehicles with certain wheel and color packages that I like. On of my friend’s mom had a Turbo S in brown, and that looked kinda good. However, I’d love to see what it would look like if they flattened it out a bit and made the front and back a little lower and less bulbous, more like a 911. Admittedly hard to do with the ending up front and the need to maximize rear room and trunk space.

At this point? YES.

I am replacing my Panamera within the year. The original plan was to order a Macan Turbo so that I could have it by the end of the summer. The dealer already has a deposit and they know I spec all of my p-cars identically. All I had to do was finalize colors. From what I am seeing of the new Panamera, it is going to be even more attractive. I am at a loss with what will be replacing the Panamera. I like the way the Macan drives but they are way more popular than the Panamera in my area, making me what to get another Panamera.
The Maserati Levante S also has my attention. It is cheaper but I would lease it because it will probably depreciate like a rock. Ever since my boyfriend got rid of his G-Wagen, I have wanted another one of those. Essentially, this is the first time ever that I don’t know what car I am getting next and the options are becoming overwhelming, especially since half of them aren’t even on the road yet.

We looked at a Macan S before we got out X3. Definitely a fantastic little crossover, but yeah, they are everywhere.

Well, all of my options are going to be everywhere; it’s Beverly Hills. I just saw pictures of the new Panamera and the back looks horrible. That is off the list. I need to sit in a Levante so see if the interior is any better than a Ghibli, and I doubt it will be. I called the dealership and finalized my Macan order. I can always trade that in a year if I like the Levante better or I get bored. The Panamera has its faults, but I was never bored with it.

I think it’s an improvement.

That blows even a fully loaded S65 out of the water...geez. And the S65 is dumb expensive.

Are you a Saudi Prince?
No? Then you cannot pull that car off.

‘Tis a princely sum.

I saw the new Panamera Turbo in promotional material in a dark color and immediately dismissed the back. I also thought the two bar DRLs were odd. In more recent material, I saw SBM 4S and fell in love. Combine a lighter or brighter color with the factory smoked tails, and I wouldn’t mind being behind one. Luckily, my dealer doesn’t mind taking more of my money. They are still ordering the Macan but they are going to put it on their lot and I am going to get another Panamera.

An excellent choice.

I’ll probably change my mind three more times before I’m actually in a different car, but options are good. Sorry to hear about your Audi. Whatever happens, you need to make sure those pizza saucers go to a good hope.

I get it. I looked and everything under the sun before I bought the Audi, and will now proceed to look at everything under the sun once again.

It’s a lot easier to do without time or financial constraints, too. Unfortunately, that is too often the case.

Indeed. I’ve actually got a ‘91 Alfa Romeo Spider in the garage that’s been waiting for a excuse to get back running, so I may just get that running and then pick up a purely reliable DD.

Well, that certainly is better than a DTS.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 00:38 |

The DTS has some things going for it. It sounds decent and has *enough* power, and the remote start + air conditioned massaging seats are nice. Still, there’s just something about driving it that I don’t like. The steering wheel has no feel apart from torque steer, and the car pitches and wallows. Also, despite being infinitely adjustable, I can’t find a wheel/seat/pedal position that suits me. Oh, and even with blind spot monitors and front and rear sensors, I feel like I’m gonna bump into shit. Visibility sucks.
